Jon Batiste's We Are was named Album of the Year at the 2022 Grammy AwardsAwardsSunday evening.

Olivia Rodrigo won Best New Artist as well as Best Pop Vocal Album for Sour. "Leave the Door Open" by Silk Sonic was named song of the year and record of the year.

In addition to other awards presented during the live stream, Chris Stapleton's Starting Over was named Best Country Album and Jazmine Sullivan was named Best R&B Album for Heaux Tales. "Family Ties" by Baby Keem featuring Kendrick Lamar won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance. "Kiss Me More" by Doja Cat featuring SZA won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

Trevor Noah hosted the ceremony, which was broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on CBS and Paramount+.

Ahead of the live broadcast, LeVar Burton, the former Grammy Award nominee for Best Spoken Word Album this year, hosted the non-televisioned premiere at the MGM Grand Conference Marquee Ballroom, where most of theGrammy86 prizes were awarded.

Record of the Year, Album of the Year and the other two general categories - Song of the Year and Best New Artist - now each have 10 nominations, up from eight, and the Recording Academy announced an expansion in its letter to members in time for the nominees announcement in November 2021.

With his nominations in double figures this year, Batiste has only earned one less nomination than the Grammy record holders for the most nominations in a single year: Michael Jackson and Babyface, each with 12 nominations in a single year. At the 2016 Grammys, Kendrick Lamar received 11 nominations but only five awards.

Three artists - Justin Bieber, Doja Cat and H.E.R. — tied for the second most nominations this year with eight each, followed by seven-time nominees Billie Eilish and Rodrigo.

The ceremony included part of "In Memoriam".with songs by Stephen Sondheimperformed by Cynthia Erivo, Leslie Odom Jr., Ben Platt and Rachel Zegler.

It wasunveiled two weeks agothat West's scheduled appearance was canceled after what his representative called "regarding online conduct".

64 yearsGrammy Awardswas originally scheduled to take place at the Crypto.com Arena, formerly known as the Staples Center, on Monday, January 31, but the Omicron-fueled spike in COVID-19 in the United States earlier this year caused a delay, with scheduling conflicts at the concert's old venue in Los Angelesasked to move to Las Vegas.
